oikotimes interview

Congratulations on your victory. Tell us some things about you, who are you?

Thank you for congratulations! Who am I? Just a girl, really! Seriously, I haven’t still quite understood what’s going on around me. For me and everybody else I’m Safura, I’m 17 years old and I want to make my dream come true – to sing on the main European stage at European Song Contest.

Who is the everyday Safura? How is your day go by normally (not in a Eurovision period). What do you like to do in your free time?

Everyday Safura is an average girl from Baku who adores music, fashion and movies, I love to play saxophone, I always watch all fashion shows and I’m a huge Twilight fan. I guess pretty solid picture, don’t you think? To be serious, I’m studying, learning something new every day of my life, trying to make some time for my friends and for my hobbies but the most important thing for me is to be able to sing every day and every minute of my life. Everyday Safura is Safura who sings.

Recently you said that you will do anything possible to win Eurovision 2010. Do you think that under the economic crisis, Azerbaijan will benefit from hosting the next Eurovision edition?

I don’t know. I guess this question is not for me to answer but I’m sure it’s going to be an amazing opportunity for Azerbaijan if we could host next Eurovision in Baku.

Why did you decide to record Drip Drop in Sweden?

It’s a chance for me to work with the best European specialists. Drip Drop was recorded at Andres Bagge’s studio. This is just amazing!

Why did you want to participate in Eurovision? Personal interest? Seeking international career? Proud to represent your country?

I’ve dreamed about it my whole life. And now I’ve got a chance and just can’t blow it. Of course, I want to pursue an international career in future, I want to sing on best world stages and it’s a chance to represent my country as best as I can. So, I guess, it’s everything at the same time.

If you could talk to all the European viewers live and look them in the eyes, tell us why should they pay attention to you and vote for Azerbaijan in the 2010 Eurovision edition.

I sing for you with all my heart! I want to bring you joy, fun and make everybody around me happy. Just listen to me and you’ll see.
