Safura: It’s a challenging fun

Opening the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 is Safura’s latest and arguably biggest challenge on her entire Eurovision path but it’s also fun. According to the results of the draw, the Azerbaijani artist will perform as the first act on the Big Night on 29th May, a much craved but also much feared spot for a great many Eurovision performers.

“Opening the Eurovision Final is challenging fun for me,” says Safura who is prepared to do her best and produce a lasting impression on the audience in spite of the other 24 contestants who will perform after her. “That’s is a huge responsibility” adds the 17-year-old artist.

These days, when Safura is getting ready to give the most important performance of her life, she finds strength and comfort in her mom, the one person directly responsible for Safura even choosing the artistic career.

“Today, she [Safura] did very well. She was great. But she needs to do even more now. This will be the Final. So that everyone remembers her through all the other acts. So that she stays in every viewer’s mind, in the heart, till the end. Number 1 is a difficult spot. Not everybody would dare to perform on the first spot,” says Safura’s mom Nailya.

Safura’s reaction on the Second Semifinal:

“I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported me this night,” said Safura after the 2nd Semifinal. “I am sincerely grateful to all my fans! Besides, I would like to give my support to representatives of those countries who could not break through to the Final. To my surprise and disappointment, among those who did not go through was Anna Bergendahl from Sweden, who I met in person just a day before the Semi and whose song I liked very much.”
