The song that Safura will perform in Norway will be announced on 19 March

Safura won the Azerbaijan's national selection final that took place on Tuesday, 2 March, in Baku’s Buta Palace. The professional jury had to choose among the three finalists, including Safura, Maryam and Milk&Kisses.

According to the Head of Azerbaijan's Delegation Adil Kerimli the Jury, all 4 songs presented during the national final were outstanding and performed very strongly, so the jury decided to scrutinize the professional studio recordings of the songs prior to choosing the winner. The intrigue is expected to be resolved on 19 March when the winning song will be announced.

All 4 songs participating in the Azerbaijan's national final were written by well-known European and American songwriters, whose names were revealed for the first time during the show on 2 March. The songs, and their respective authors, that continue to compete for the chance to represent Azerbaijan in Oslo are:

• Cancelled: Written by Stefan Örn/Negin/Random
• Soulless: Written by Anders Lundström
• Drip Drop: Written by Stefan Örn/Sandra Bjurman
• Under My Skin: Written by Stefan Örn/ Phil Anquetil

Safura, the winner of the Azerbaijan's national selection, will now go to Ukraine for a training period and preparation for the album recording. Afterwards Safura will travel to Sweden to record an album with Swedish partners who will participate extensively in the album recording. Tentatively in two weeks Azerbaijan's representative will be back to Kiev again to shoot the music video for the future smashing hit and work on the staging for the Contest.

In 2009 the Azerbaijan's representatives at Eurovison Song Contest, AySel & Arash, finished third with song Always. Made its debut in 2008 Azerbaijan with the Elnur and Samir duo achieved 8th place.
