Last night May 28th Eurovision 2009 winner Alexander Rybak came to Safura’s make-up room to wish her all the best before big night of Eurovision 2010 Final. Alexander and Safura know each other since Azerbaijani national selection. “You need to take in everything. You’ve got great voice, amazing stage performance, I saw your rehearsal and I love it as well as your song ‘Drip Drop’. Stay focused and everything will work out fine”, - said Rybak. On May 28th after amazing second semi-final results Azerbaijan celebrated one of the biggest holidays in the Land of Fire – The Day of Azerbaijani Republic. Of course, Safura couldn’t miss this show. She appeared on stage of Eurovision Village and performed Drip Drop for everybody there. Public was blown away by Safura’s huge voice, her energy on stage and passionate performance. Than last year’s Azerbaijani participant AySel took a stage with remarkable show. By the way, she came to Oslo to support Safura. “Safura got great potential. She is amazing on stage. I’m routing for her from all my heart”, - said AySel. After performing at Eurovision Village Safura got back to Telenor Arena to continue rehearsals for tomorrow’s Final.

Safura's Eurovision song Drip Drop had been gaining popularity across Europe way before the Contest in Norway and its 2nd Semifinal, where Safura performed last night. In fact, Drip Drop's good positions in national charts may largely account for Safura occupying a comfortable spot among the leaders and even likely winners of this year's Eurovision and her painless ascent to the Final. The song and video have been in rotation in Germany, UK, Denmark, Netherlands, Finland, Belgium, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Estonia, Romania, Russia, Bolgaria, Belarus, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Gerorgia, Malta, Moldova. Drip Drop already in airplay of more than 20 European countries. It is by now almost a done deal that regardless of the results of the Final, where Safura will be the first act, Drip Drop will stay in the charts for quite some time, fueling the Azerbaijani's artist popularity on the Old Continent. For Azerbaijan, this means perhaps the first such large-scale launch of a national artist into the European music and show biz orbit.

On May 28th after amazing second semi-final results Azerbaijan, Safura herself and all Azerbaijani delegation will celebrate one of the biggest holydays in the Land of Fire – The Day of Azerbaijani Republic. Official celebration concert will be held at Eurovision Village from 6 p.m. till 7 p.m. During this special event Azerbaijani musicians will perform on stage for all Eurovision fans. Among them unbelievable drums and tars performers, incredible native dances performers, Azerbaijani star Brilliant Dadashova and others. Last year’s Eurovision’s participant AySel will perform as well. She came to Oslo especially to support Safura and congratulate their own country during Eurovision week. Safura will perform on the stage right after with her Eurovision hit ‘Drip Drop’. This is special event for her so she decided to be there no matter what. Also national Azerbaijani finalists for Eurovision 2010 Milk&Kisses and Maryam came to Oslo to support Safura and will be in the audience during celebration.

After second semi-final dress rehearsal two competitors have met at Radisson Plaza’s lobby. Safura and Swedish participant Anna Bergendahl greet each other and chatted for a while. “I really like ‘Drip Drop’, it’s a very catchy song and it tells the story which is the most important thing. I have worked with Anders Bagge myself during ‘Pop-Idol’ in Sweden and he is a great professional. By the way, Safura really impressed me – she sings, dances and coveres the stage all at the same time, I just can’t imagine it”. Safura also said that she likes Swedish song a lot: “I guess the song speaks for itself and it’s suited Anna, it is very emotional and it really touched me. I liked the trick with guitar in the performance as well, great job!”

Today May 26th Safura performed at first dress rehearsal in front of press along with fellow contestants for a second semi-final. Azerbaijani star presented improved stage number which made a big impression and was welcomed with ovations. Also well-known Safura’s dress with additional details was revealed. Overwhelming excitement and joy ruled the grounds during Safura’s visit to a public school near Oslo on Tuesday, 25th of May. It is one of a handful of schools in the entire Scandinavia with a special class where kids learn the Azerbaijani language, culture and history. No wonder Safura went there for her school day trip, an activity that all Eurovision participants have in their agenda this year.

First Semi-final

Norwegian own Didrik after first time meeting at Opening Reception asked Safura for a cup of tea on the 34th floor of the highest building in Oslo with incredible panoramic view. Didrik showed up with a present for Safura and one of hers favourite – chocolate. They’ve chatted for an hour with press buzzing around them. Didrik asked Safura about Oslo and weather here, about her parents who came to be with her during Contest. As a host competitor Norwegian singer asked, of course, about the stage of the competition. “It’s incredible! I love to be on this stage, never seen something like that before. And Oslo is beautiful city. I didn’t get much time to make a complete impression because of extra rehearsal but I’m amazed with what I have already seen” – Safura answered. Didrik wished all the best to Safura at Eurovision 2010. Safura asked Didrik about Contest and how does it feels to be the host. “I didn’t see such huge interest for my life is coming, I thought everybody will forget about me but press is following me everywhere!” – said Didrik. He wished Safura all the luck at the Contest. Afterwards both singers left for Telenor Arena to watch first semifinal.

Today after busy rehearsals day Azerbaijani star visited joint party of Ukraine and Germany. Both Alyosha and Lena performed on EuroClub’s stage in front of Eurovision fans crowd and press. Safura watched closely both performances and after Lena’s performance made a surprise for everybody. She came on the stage and gave special gift that she prepared herself for fellow contestants – native Azerbaijani mat for Alyosha and late birthday present for Lena. For her Azerbaijani singer has found an ancient horse shoe for luck.

May 23rd was a busy day for Eurovision contestants, guests and media – it’s finally official: The Eurovision Song Contest 2010 has started with Opening Reception at Oslo City Hall. All stars of this years Eurovision appeared at red carpet, gave interviews, smiled in front of cameras, chatted with each other. By the way, last year’s winner Alexander Rybak performed on the stage. Fan crowds near Oslo City Hall blocked all the ways in screaming and taking pictures.

Eurovision Openning Reception

Yesterday, May 22d, Safura had not only important rehearsal at Telenor Arena but a special event – boat trip to the amazing Norwegian fjords along with her mom, little sister, fellow contestants and friends Turkish band maNga and limited press among which two biggest Norwegian news papers - Dagens Næringsliv and Dagbladet.

Safura left Oslo for three hours to listen to the special language of the sea, to fill beautiful contrasts of Norway within one small piece of it, to see legendary country’s diamond – fjords!

The arrival of mom and sister became true "reward" for Safura after her today's second and last individual rehearsal at the Arena.

Safura’s mom Nailya and her sister Fidan surprised Azebaijani singer today after second rehearsal. When Safura came back from Telenor Arena to the hotel for a short break Nailya and Fidan was waiting for her in the lobby. Safura burst into tears of joy and kept her arms around mom and sister. Earlier this day Safura said at press conference that she is waiting for her parents to arrive to Oslo, she missed them so much and that their visit is postponed because of some transportation and visas delays. Singer’s father is also supposed to come to Oslo right before the second semi-final.

Today on May 22nd Safura gave press conference after her second rehearsal for semi-final. During press-conference at Telenor Arena’s press center Safura answered a lot of questions from journalists, took pictures, and gave autographs. Safura revealed some details about the dress and stage performance and presented her backing vocalists to the press for a first time. Samantha Powell, Marlene Strand, Anna Bergenholtz and Johanna Eriksson told that they are very glad to work with such talented girl from Azerbaijan and that they hope for all the best during Contest for Safura. Amazing thing happened afterwards – press conference coordinator asked girls to sing with Safura and they’ve performed Azerbaijani song for speechless media.

Yesterday was a busy day for Safura in Oslo. In the afternoon Azerbaijani participant to the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was at reception with mayor in Oslo City Hall and later that evening she was invited to the Belarusian party! Safura arrived with her team and presents for fellow contestants. By the way, it wasn’t an ordinary Eurovision party, it was an engagement party for Artem and Alena from ‘3+2’ – Belarusian contestants. So Safura decided to present them special jewelry in a form of key which symbolize faithfulness, future happiness and best luck at Eurovision. Azerbaijani star also picked a package box for happy couple with a butterfly on it – a symbol of Belarusian delegation this year. Artem and Alena were very touched and wished Safura all the best at the contest as well.

Fabian Stang spare some time for official part of reception, for chit-chat with Safura and even for a small excursion for Azerbaijani singer and a part of her delegation.

While staying here and preparing for the main show Safura got news about this party and immediately decided that she wanted to come no matter what. Azerbaijani participant wanted to go to Greece during European promo tour but the visit was called-off due to turmoil events so she decided to visit small part of Greece here in Oslo.

Safura’s first rehearsal became a true artistic discovery for the Eurovision fans and journalists who got the first glimpse of the previously unseen stage performance created for the Azerbaijani artist by Beyonce’s choreographer JaQuel Knight.

‘Drip Drop’ got its new life on stage in Oslo. For the first time Safura performed with her dancer - Denis Hrystuk, finalist of Ukrainian version of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’. He brought his special feeling for ‘Drip Drop’ in every move to make this combination of song and dance a complete love story.
